A 36-year-old man was stabbed to death in an African grocery store in Grenoble (Isère) this Friday evening. The victim, of Nigerian nationality, was unknown to the police and justice services, according to a source close to the case. A 27-year-old suspect, of the same nationality, was arrested and taken into custody this Saturday at 12:30 p.m., indicates the Grenoble prosecutor's office, confirming information from Dauphiné.
An altercation allegedly broke out between the two men around 8:30 p.m. in this business located on Avenue Marie-Reynoard. The situation then degenerated in circumstances that have yet to be clarified. The victim received a fatal stab wound to the chest, in front of the manager and several customers. Emergency services treated the 30-year-old in cardio-respiratory arrest, but were unable to resuscitate him. The attacker had already fled. The police carried out observations at this crime scene.
The investigation carried out by officials from the local judicial police service (SLPJ) of Grenoble progressed quickly, since a 27-year-old suspect was arrested this Saturday at midday before being placed in police custody.
At this point, it is unknown if the suspect and victim knew each other. Investigations continue.
