the sector proposes a compromise to the government

More than a month after the presentation of the 2025 budget, Capeb, FFB-UMGCCP, Synasav and Uniclima published a joint letter on November 19, 2024 addressed to the Prime Minister, Michel Barnier. In this letter, professional organizations are concerned about article 10 of the finance bill for 2025. The latter in fact plans to increase the VAT rate for the supply and installation of very high performance gas boilers. energy. Currently located at 5.5%, it should increase to 20%.

Concerned about this increase, the signatories proposed a compromise to the government, with a VAT rate of 10%. A measure “which would make it possible to both respond to 's climate challenges and current budgetary constraints“, affirm the professional organizations.

A measure unfavorable to household purchasing power

According to the signatories, the increase in the VAT rate would directly impact household finances. They thus remind that this type of equipment “is often found in the housing of low-income households in collective buildings. This potentially concerns 3.4 million French households who would see the cost of renewing their equipment increase by 500 to 700 euros.“.

The organizations also emphasize that, in cases where households face a technical impossibility of installing another type of equipment, the increase in the VAT rate “therefore amounts to imposing a double penalty on these households“.
