While a man suspected of having committed the crime was arrested this Thursday, November 21 in Portugal at around 5 p.m. in the town of Póvoa de Lanhoso, 70 km north of Porto, the Grenoble public prosecutor Éric Vaillant held a press conference at the city courthouse this Friday to provide an update on the investigation.

The latter confirmed the arrest and the identity of the potential murderer: it is indeed Abdoul Diallo, the main suspect: “If I confirm her identity, it is because she has been known since the very day of the murder since the Abdoul Diallo's identity card was found in the accident vehicle in front of Grenoble town hall,” declared the prosecutor.

Abdoul Diallo is a 24-year-old man, incarcerated for the first time when he was fifteen and whose criminal record shows 19 convictions to date, mainly for violence and drug trafficking. He has thus accumulated six years in prison over the last ten years.

Éric Vaillant praised “the important work carried out in France by the police officers of Isère and Rhône and their Portuguese counterparts with whom they have been online daily for weeks and which made it possible to know where the suspect was in Portugal. “

More than “forty investigators” worked to “track down” the suspect. The “obviously priority” case mobilized “maximum human and technical resources”, underlined Damien Delaby, zonal director of the Judicial Police during the press conference.

The suspect is currently detained in Portugal under the arrest warrant issued by the Grenoble investigating judge responsible for the case. “He could be in France within 5 to 6 weeks,” concluded the prosecutor.
