While the guerre has been burning Ukraine for more than 1000 daysand collective of Franco-Ukrainian associations mobilized to create the project “Strafted Ambulance” : a Ukrainian emergency vehicle, riddled with bullets, will be exhibited in several French cities including Toulouse.

“Bombarded by the Russian army”

The ambulance, which comes from the region of Kharkivin eastern Ukraine, where it was bombed in 2022, will stay a few days at each stage of its journey in France. It is expected to last approximately six months.

His story:

In September 2022, the Kharkiv region is partially occupied by the Russians. While Ukraine tries to repel the invader, the bombings continue. In Stary Saltiv, an injured person, taking refuge in the basement of his building, calls for help. The rescue team rushes despite the danger to help him. As the mission draws to a close, the ambulance is deliberately targeted by the Russians. The fact that the vehicle did not explode is considered a miracle, as one of the shrapnel passed through the space between the oxygen tanks.

The vehicle began its journey to Nice in September 2024. Arriving from Clermont-Ferrand, it will stop at Toulouse from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 November 2024 at noon on Saint-Pierre Square. “He will then go to Pau then will continue his tour of France until March 2025,” indicates Laurent, secretary ofUkraine Libre Toulouse.

Raising funds to buy “much-needed” new ambulances

Witness to the war crimes perpetrated by the Russian army in Ukraine, the ambulance aims to to raise awareness the public. The initiative aims to raise funds for the purchase of new ambulances. “Boxes and QR codes will be installed for those who wish to make donations,” indicates the association.

After this event, it will still be possible to donate on the hello asso site and to meet Ukraine Libre Toulouse. The association will be present every weekend at Christmas market of the avenue Jules Guesde in Toulouse, with a stand of Ukrainian solidarity products.
