For a post--Israel era, youth must mobilize in the stadiums

We are experiencing a historic moment. Thursday, November 14, hosted Israel at the Stade de France for the fifth day of the Nations League.

In the context of open war in Gaza, Lebanon, and the increase in colonial crimes in the West Bank, this match was of capital importance in demonstrating the support given by the French people to their Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters.

In the general political context, and after the clashes on the sidelines of a football match in Amsterdam the previous week, three Presidents of the Republic decided to make this meeting a major political event and clearly chose their camp, accompanied by the political class most likely to support the warlike project of the government in place in Israel.

Faced with this, peace activists have been deprived, as has been the case regularly for over a year, of their right to the most legitimate political expression. Bruno Retailleau, Minister of the Interior in the Barnier government, banned displaying any flag other than French or Israeli, effectively excluding the suffering of Palestine and Lebanon from this football match.

The French reacted massively to this context and decided in the large majority to boycott this meeting: the attendance of 16,611 spectators, being the worst in the entire history of the Stade de France.

Those who nevertheless decided to go there, some defied the ban on wearing the Palestinian flag. This is the case of Emmanuel Hoarau, a young journalist, who decided to wave the flag in the stands and publish his photo on the social network borders and Mr. Retailleau's ministry suffered a serious political defeat. All this, a week after Saint-Germain supporters displayed a “Free Palestine” banner against which the minister had already lost his temper.

Therefore, it seems clear that the ostensible demonstration of support for Palestine and Lebanon in the stadiums, against the murderous policies of Benjamin Netanyahu and his Western supporters, is bearing fruit.

For a ceasefire to be declared immediately in Gaza,

For the UN to regain its leading place in the resolution of the conflict,

So that the Palestinian, Lebanese, Israeli, neighboring, French people and everywhere in the world can agree against inhumanity.

We call young people to action! This platform aims to be a shining star in the world of sport: as a common social denominator, it must take its part in the fight.

Thus, every young person in this country, every person feeling injustice in their heart, can mobilize now with the slogan: #ApresFranceIsrael. Anyone who feels concerned by the tragedies in the Middle East, by following this slogan, will work to ensure that the voices of the people are heard.

This is why, starting this weekend, #ApresFranceIsrael, we will see you in all stadiums in France with the Palestinian flag.
