Almost all departments around the Mediterranean have been placed on fire alert for this Friday, June 28. In some parts of Aude and the Pyrénées-Orientales, the risk is “high”.
The forest fire prevention campaign has been launched. For this Friday, June 28, the prefecture has placed part of Hérault on yellow alert for “moderate risk” of fire. Only the west of the department is affected, as indicated on the map below.

In Aude, Part of the territory is even on orange alert. This concerns the surroundings of Carcassonne, as well as the Corbières. Walks and hikes in the mountains and mechanical work by professionals are strongly discouraged. Mechanical work by individuals is prohibited in these areas.
The same goes for the Pyrénées-Orientales. Part of the territory, particularly the coast, is on orange alert for “high risk” of fire.
This Friday, almost the entire Mediterranean region is under surveillance, with the exception of Bouches-du-Rhône and Alpes-Maritimes.
On Saturday, the risk will move towards the south-east and will no longer concern the Pyrénées-Orientales or Aude.
Throughout the summer, the fire risk map will be updated regularly by the prefecture.
