No more endless waiting at the police station for the theft of your bike, for example. Since October 15, complaints for damage to property or theft can be filed online on the masécurité.fr platform.
“This gives us more time to manage cases of domestic violence in particular, for which contact with victims is prioritized”explains Alix De Gaullier, police commissioner of Lake Geneva, in Thonon-les-Bains (Haute-Savoie).
“This morning, for example, we received a complaint against X from a gentleman who told us that his car was scratched yesterday”explains an investigator, who was entrusted with two files this Tuesday. “So we look at the information he indicated, such as the location, to see if there are surveillance cameras on site. It's a big time saver for us, because we don't have to ask all questions to the victim.”
In Thonon-les-Bains, between October 15 and November 15, 318 complaints were received, including 105 filed online. They arrive directly on the investigator's computer, who can, after analysis, redirect the file to the technical and scientific police in the event of burglaries, for example.
“We can move if there are DNA traces or video surveillance images, continues the commissioner. This approach does not prevent us from having a link with the population, they can always come and meet us and we always have patrols to go and meet them. And it is sometimes more comfortable to file a complaint at home from a sofa without having to travel.”
The feedback is very positive, both from investigators and victims.
