Algeria Football– The Algerian U20 national team was held in check by its Moroccan counterpart during their second match of the UNAF CAN qualifying tournament, confirming a start to the competition marked by mixed results. After an initial draw against Egypt, the Fennecs once again shared the points, this time with Morocco, with a score of 1-1.
The match started well for the young Algerians, thanks to a goal from Mohamed Zeghadi, who opened the scoring in the first period. Dominant in the game, the Fennecs increased their efforts to consolidate their advantage, but without managing to double the stake.
However, the turning point in the match came in the second half when Ben Ahmed Kohili missed a penalty in the 64th minute, missing a golden opportunity to secure a valuable victory. This error galvanized the Moroccans, who found the resources to equalize in the last minutes of regulation time, snatching a precious point.
This result leaves a bitter taste for Algeria who had the opportunity to seal their first victory, and against Morocco, in the tournament. The Fennecs may regret their offensive ineffectiveness and will have to quickly rectify their situation if they hope to go further in the competition.
The Algerian coach will also have to work on managing crucial moments, while his team once again let an advantage slip away in a match within their reach.
With two draws in as many matches, Algeria U20 now find themselves in a delicate position, needing a victory in their next outing to have any hope of staying in the race. All eyes are already turning to their next opponent, where there will be no room for error.
