By Dorothée Pierry / Updated November 19, 2024

The national Christmas bonus is financial assistance paid each year to beneficiaries of certain social minimums. 3 organizations are in charge of payment: CAF, MSA and Pôle emploi. Depending on your situation, the amount of the Christmas bonus that you will receive differs.

The Christmas bonus is officially renewed for 2024 ! The official amount depends on the situation of the beneficiary:

    • If you are on the RSA, the CAF (or the MSA) takes into account your family situation to calculate your Christmas bonus (find out more)
    • If you are a beneficiary of other social assistance (ASS, AER, RFPE, etc.), you will receive a lump sum of 152,45 euros (see details)
    • If you are on RSA AND eligible for the Christmas bonus paid by Pôle emploi, you will benefit of the most advantageous amount depending on your situation (our explanations)

Regarding the increase in the amount of the Christmas bonus for single-parent families: Last year, the National Assembly adopted a supplement to the Christmas bonus for single-parent families, i.e. an increase of 35% of the Christmas bonus for these families. In 2024, this bonus is renewed.

The Christmas bonus will be paid on Friday December 13, 2024 depending on the beneficiary's income. According to the Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and Equality between Women and Men specified, on Tuesday November 19, 2024, that the sum should normally appear in the bank accounts of beneficiaries between Saturday December 14 and Monday December 16.

The amounts communicated in this article are the official amounts for the year 2024.

Christmas bonus: amount paid by Travail

For the France Travail Christmas bonus, the amount is the same for all beneficiaries

If you are eligible for the Christmas bonus while receiving social assistance other than the basic RSA, i.e. the ASS or the AER, it is France Work who will pay you the Christmas bonus.

A single amount will then be paid to you, whatever your situation (level of resources and composition of the household). In 2024, this amount rises to 152,45 euros.

For single people with children, also called “single-parent families”, this amount of 152.45 euros sera increased but only at the request of the single parent with his agency France Travail. These increased amounts are as follows :

Number of child(ren) Single person
1 enfant 205,81 euros
2 children 232,49 euros
3 children 248,49 euros
4 children 269,84 euros
Per additional child(ren) 21,34 euros

Attention : As a reminder, job seekers receiving unemployment benefits are not eligible for the Christmas bonus.

CAF and France Travail recipient: how much Christmas bonus?

As explained above, the Christmas bonus is paid by the CAF or the MSA to RSA beneficiaries and by France Travail to beneficiaries of other social benefits giving entitlement to this aid.

However, it can happen that people are both eligible for the CAF/MSA Christmas bonus and the France Travail Christmas bonus. This is the case, for example, for people who receive both RSA and ASS (find out more about the accumulation of these two aids).

So, if you find yourself in this situation, know that you will not be able to receive the Christmas bonus twice. Indeed, the following rule applies: France Travail and the CAF (or the MSA) study your situation, and the most advantageous amount for you is paid(see all the details on the accumulation of the Christmas bonus from Caf and France Travail).
