This Wednesday, shortly after 9:20 a.m., firefighters intervened when a fire broke out in an apartment located on the ground floor of 16 rue du Sac, in Bar-le-Duc. It was a neighbor who raised the alarm, seeing and smelling smoke emanating in the narrow lane located between the covered market and Place Exelmans.
Alerted, around twenty fire soldiers from Bar-le-Duc and Revigny-sur-Ornain, coordinated by Lieutenant Fabrice Pierre, group leader, went to the scene. The tenant of the accommodation, a 43-year-old man, did not respond to the emergency call, which asked him to open the door for them. The latter had to break a window pane to gain access to the interior of the T1. The victim, slightly intoxicated, was treated and transported to the hospital center for check-ups.
The origin of this start of fire seems linked to the operation of an oven which overheated when the tenant had just put food on a rack. He allegedly fell asleep while cooking.
On site, the Baris police officers carried out the usual findings. Jean-Paul Lemoine, first deputy mayor, also made the trip to see the damage caused.
