Ramon “Tats” Suzara continues to make waves in the Volleyball world, following his recent election as president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) last month. This weekend, he was named Executive Vice President (EVP) of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), strengthening his influence in global volleyball governance.
“It is a tremendous honor and privilege to be appointed as Executive Vice President of the FIVB, a position that promises to open up significant opportunities for Philippine volleyball in the future,” Suzara said. He will work alongside Brazilian Fabio Azevedo, who assumed the FIVB presidency during the 39th General Assembly and elections, held last week in Porto, Portugal.
“This is not just a personal achievement; it will immensely benefit our national teams and uplift the entire landscape of Philippine volleyball,” he emphasized, expressing his gratitude to the FIVB, former president Dr. Ary Graça, and the new president Fabio Azevedo for their confidence in him.
Suzara’s tenure as EVP will span four years, during which time he will also serve as AVC president and president of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF).
He was accompanied to Porto by PNVF Vice President Ricky Palou, Secretary General Donaldo “Don” Caringal, and Director Tonyboy Liao, all committed to supporting the cause of Philippine volleyball.
At the congress, attended by over 200 FIVB members, Suzara offered an enlightening insight into the Philippines’ upcoming solo hosting of the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, scheduled for September 12-28 next year, marking a historic moment for the nation.
