The French Biodiversity Office (OFB) denounced “deterioration” on Tuesday. According to a police source, around thirty demonstrators, accompanied by tractors and skips filled with waste and manure, forced the front door of the Guéret OFB (Creuse).
And according to images broadcast by the newspaper The Mountainthese were demonstrators with yellow caps and Rural Coordination vests.
In the absence of responses from the State deemed satisfactory, the Confédération Rurale union is calling for food freight to be blocked from Wednesday. It could in particular target mass distribution purchasing centers in Charente, Landes or Tarn-et-Garonne.
On the A9 motorway, at the Boulou tollbooth (Pyrénées-Orientales), farmers from the CR established a roadblock on Tuesday, blocking goods trucks but allowing cars to pass, around ten kilometers from the Spanish border.
“We are going to block the A9, but also the fuel depots, the ports, the purchasing centers. We want to cause chaos and a food shortage,” assured Serge Bousquet-Cassagne, CR figure in the South-West, present in Boulou.
On the A9, “a river of fruits and vegetables arriving from Spain”, he envisages “a lasting blockage (…) over several days”.
It is now mainly the Rural Coordination (CR) which is in charge, in the South-West in particular, while the FNSEA hailed a “first victory” with the announcement of a vote in the National Assembly on Mercosur.
Almost a year after a spectacular movement which lasted for many weeks, the agricultural world has launched new actions of discontent since Sunday. This time, it is a question of denouncing the announced signing of the free trade treaty between the countries of the European Union and those of Mercosur (Latin America).
