The Cancer Association of Eastern Quebec (ACEQ) presented Tribute awards on Saturday to two volunteers from its Perce-Neige Sept-Îles group, Huguette Bergeron and Denise Lavoie. They were honored in the Periodic and Constant Volunteering category at a gala in Rimouski.
The ACEQ recognition evening highlighted the invaluable involvement of 20 volunteers from Eastern Quebec, including two Septiliennes, who give their time to make a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.
Perce-Neige Sept-Îles is busy organizing soothing activities for people undergoing cancer treatment. The mutual aid and support group offers various services complementary to those of the health network.
“People with heart”
“The volunteer recognition evening is a tradition that we want to honor every year to thank these kind people who donate their time to lend us a helping hand. Without them, we could not fully fulfill our mission. In their own way, they bring a ray of light into the lives of those affected by the disease,” comments the Association’s general director, Krystine Plourde.
Since 2001, the ACEQ has awarded the Hommage prize to volunteers who have accomplished exceptional work, consistently and discreetly, in each of the organization’s sectors of activity: services, financing and technical support.
