A first emergency call was made around 1 a.m., during the night from Monday to Tuesday, for a fire on Rue de la Liberté.
The fire started outside, but quickly completely destroyed the residence and spread to the neighboring house.
Barely an hour later, a second call was made to 911, this time for a fire in a building under construction on Parent Boulevard.
No one was injured in either fire.
Furthermore, for the moment, the police are not making a link between the two disasters.
However, Noovo Info has learned that the first house burned once belonged to a member of organized crime.
The Trois-Rivières police did not want to confirm this information, emphasizing that the current occupants were not linked to organized crime.
Suspicious or arson fires have been numerous in recent months.
“Indeed, 2024 is an eventful year in terms of police events, fires yes, in some there have been arrests, in others these are still cases under investigation,” underlined Luc Mongrain, director of the Trois-Rivières police.
Details in Alice Trahan's report.
