To mark 1000 days of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, two rallies should take place in Toulouse this week. Toulouse town hall will be lit up in the colors of Ukraine on Thursday evening.
This Tuesday, November 19, it will be 1,000 days since Russia invaded the entire Ukrainian territory, triggering a violent war that is still ongoing.
On this occasion, the Ukraine Libre association is planning a gathering this Tuesday, at 6 p.m., at the Jean-Jaurès metro station. The association invites participants to come with Ukrainian flags and signs.
Another gathering should take place at Place du Capitole in Toulouse, Thursday, at 7 p.m., at the call of the Ucraïna en Occitania association. A silent round will take place, while the town hall will be lit in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
“Regarding the gathering, we are awaiting agreement from the prefecture,” underlines Oxana, founder and vice-president of the association. A thousand days is not nothing, we were leaving for a three-week war, and it will soon be three years. It would be great if the people of Toulouse came to support us. It is thanks to them that we are here. Alone, we are nothing. »
“The fighters are tired”
Oxana says she fears a loss of support for the Ukrainians. “People have gotten used to it. However, the Ukrainians need support like never before: the fighters are tired, a few days ago, 120 missiles fell on kyiv in the space of a few hours. »
Another action: at the initiative of Free Ukraine, from November 22 to 26, Place Saint-Pierre, in Toulouse, a Ukrainian ambulance affected by bombings will be exhibited.
A Ukrainian mass to commemorate the victims of the war will also take place this Sunday, November 24, at 3 p.m., at the Cure de Saint-Hilaire, in Toulouse.
