a new structure is created in Deux-Sèvres

The Deux-Sèvres departmental triathlon committee was created this summer. This structure intends to contribute to the development of triathlon under the sponsorship of its European champion, Nicolas Onillon.

The Olympic Games effect is indisputable. With a 32% increase in licensees, triathlon is doing well in France, including in Deux-Sèvres where the creation of a new body takes on its full meaning. “It was the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Triathlon League which pushed for its creation. We were in fact the last department of the League without a Departmental Committee, explains President Dorothée Poulain. It is about structuring the clubs at the department level, creating the link between the clubs and the League and then also creating links between the clubs. There are in fact few opportunities for exchanges between the different structures. Internships, among other things, allow this. I also count on the clubs to promote the committee. »

Events planned

The committee's ambitions are for the moment measured, which seems realistic in this launch year. “It is first of all about existing and creating oneself. There is a lot to do but it comes at a cost. We start from nothing. The Committee is therefore looking for financial partners to develop”insists the President, also licensed from the Stade Niortais Triathlon.

The first cycling event was held on Saturday November 9 at the Bressuire velodrome with technical workshops as well as an afternoon outing in the countryside. New activities are already planned: next December 7 with level 1 federal certificate training (giving the title of guide) and February 8, 2025 for a Class Triathlon (tool for animation and detection of young people triathletes). It is a safe bet that this new structure will gradually find its place and further promote the influence of triathlon in Deux-Sèvres.
