Tunisian national production of crude oil stood at 1,016 tonnes (kt) at the end of September 2024, thus recording a drop of 14% compared to the same period of last year, which will increase the the country's energy deficit and its energy import needs. (Ph. Nawara oil field).
According to the report on the energy situation for September 2024, published by the National Observatory of Energy and Mines (Onem), this drop affected several fields, namely Ashtart (-26%), El Hajeb/Guebiba (- 35), Gherib (-33), Maamoura (-87), Barraka (37), Halk El-Manzel (-20), Miskar (-20), Hasdrubal (-11), MLD (-15), Cercina (- 10), Nawara (-9) and Dorra (-29).
On the other hand, other fields recorded an increase in their production such as Adam (+8%), Ouedzar (+19), Bir Ben Tartar (+86), Sidi Litayem (+33) and Ch. Essaida (+14) .
According to the observatory report, the daily average of oil production increased from 33,900 barrels/d at the end of September 2023, to 29,200 at the end of September 2024.
