an important update… nine years later

Nine years after its release, one of the last “old-school” Assassin’s Creed opuses finally receives a major update on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Before making a radical and successful transition to Action-RPG with Origins in 2017, the franchise for a long time had difficulty breaking away from the formula of the first opus launched in 2007. Released in 2015, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is those, and not necessarily the most popular episode. However, it finally receives a beneficial update to run correctly on current consoles. The benefits of the Victorian Industrial Revolution that it depicts?

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate finally optimized for modern consoles

Available since today on PS5 and Xbox Series, a new update for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate finally allows it to run there in the best conditions. Thanks to a soberly named “60 FPS Patch”, it is now possible to wander around the London of 1868 at precisely 60 constant FPS in a higher resolution thanks to the backward compatibility of these machines. On PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X, the game can now be displayed in 4K. On Xbox Series S, however, you will have to settle for 1080p. Oddly enough, this patch only weighs 0.75 GB on PS5, compared to 31.8 on Xbox Series.

In any case, this is Ubisoft’s latest effort to optimize previous games in the franchise on contemporary consoles. This was also the case recently on Origins or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. As a reminder, the French giant was also interested in preserving The Crew 2 and Motorfest after an outcry from the community following the closure of its servers, and the addition of an offline mode in the long term .

We can bet that other older Assassin’s Creed games will receive the same treatment in due time. Just another way to wait until the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on February 14. Despite the many controversies surrounding it, Ubisoft feels confident about it. Let us remember, however, that this was the case with Star Wars Outlaws, and the results that we unfortunately know. So let’s hope for the sake of the French giant that History does not repeat itself. At the same time as Shadows, Assassin’s Creed Animus will also be released, a sort of hub aimed at representing the modern era in future games in the license, with a game-service sub-layer that raises questions.
