Steve Clarke’s side secured their place in the relegation play-offs after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Poland in Warsaw on Thursday evening.
Needing a win against the hosts, Scotland’s hopes rested on the shoulders of the already qualified Portuguese side, who were expected to come to their aid against Croatia. However, despite winning two consecutive official competitions for the first time this year, Scotland failed to finish above Croatia in the Group A1 table, with the match in Split ending in a draw 1-1.
The excitement of the match reached its peak when Andy Robertson scored a powerful headed goal in injury time, providing a memorable away victory for the Tartan Army. The victory guarantees Scotland a place in the relegation play-offs which will take place in 2025, where they will face their opponents first away, followed by a second leg at home at Hampden Park.

To add to the Scottish fans’ joy, Robertson’s decisive goal combined with John McGinn’s elegant opening goal ensured Poland’s relegation from League A to League B, marking a difficult night for the hosts.
