Relatives of Numan Toprakoğlu, this 19-year-old young man who was killed on August 3, in Prissé, a few kilometers from Mâcon, gathered around the Chalonnais collective “Justice for Numan”, organized a white march on Saturday, November 16 in his memory. The meeting was set in front of the town hall at 3 p.m.
A portrait of Numan was installed on a trestle in front of the steps of the Hôtel-de-Ville.
After a few words of Dominique Copreauxa president of a collective who knows the family well, and Gilles Platretthe mayor of Chalon-sur-Saône came to show his support for the victim’s family, the procession “worthy in remembrance of Numan», rushed into the pedestrian streets. He stopped in front of the Saint-Vincent cathedral, the Piccolo theater, the Place de Beaune before a further meeting with the parents in front of the steps of the Chalon-sur-Saône judicial court.
So far, eight people are indicted by the Chalon-sur-Saône public prosecutor’s office for “murder and aggravated violence», and seven are currently in pre-trial detention. A suspect was released on August 31.
As the late Numan's mother indicated, the trial will take place in 3 years.
500 people, according to the organizers of the white march, 310 according to the police, responded.
