A good smartwatch for sports

The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 Active is an entry-level connected watch that can perfectly support occasional athletes or those who closely monitor their fitness, and who have a small budget. And despite its low price, it still offers a range of features related to sports monitoring and health. The integrated sensors can thus measure the heart rate (be careful, its precision is not at the level of professional devices), the oxygen level in the blood (SpO2) or even the number of steps taken during the day. The Redmi Watch 3 Active can even alert you in the event of abnormal heart rate variations and detect sleep phases. On the sports side, the watch can track no less than 110 different sports; from the most classic activity (running, cycling, hiking, etc.) to the most original (darts, frisbee, etc.). We would still have liked a GPS to be integrated. Instead, the watch uses data provided via Bluetooth by the smartphone.

In terms of design, the watch adopts a decidedly sporty look with its silicone bracelet, and even copies the appearance of the Apple Watch with its rectangular case with rounded corners. As for its screen, we are entitled to a 1.83 inch LCD panel, with a resolution of 240×280 pixels, or a density of 202 ppi. The brightness peaks at 450 cd/m². This is enough to keep the screen readable pretty much all the time. Note, however, that there is no Always-On here. Finally, in terms of autonomy, the watch lasted five days with demanding settings before having to go through the recharge box.

Durable headphones with ANC

Also included in this pack, the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 are in-ear wireless headphones with a small stem that promotes good placement in the ear. True wireless which also demonstrate good robustness since they are IP54 certified, and therefore resistant to splashes, rain or perspiration. In the bowels of each earphone, we also find a 12.4 mm diameter speaker, which allows, in theory, to provide good restitution in bass frequencies.

Above all, despite their attractive price, they are equipped with active noise reduction, which can reach -46 dB depending on the brand. Enough to be properly isolated from parasitic noise in an open space or on public transport. A transparency mode is even included. In terms of connectivity, the Redmi Buds 5 support Bluetooth 5.3 as well as SBC and AAC codecs. They even offer multipoint Bluetooth, very practical for connecting two devices simultaneously to the headphones. Finally, in terms of autonomy, Xiaomi promises 10 hours of listening time per charge, and 8 hours with ANC activated. With the case, the autonomy increases to 40 hours.
