N2M: “the worst match of the season” for Saint-Renan against

N2M: Saint-Renan Iroise Volley – AS Volley: 0-3

“It’s our worst game of the season.” With a disappointed face, coach Jérôme Kerdilès gave a brief but clear analysis following this clear setback against Sartrouville. While the reception of this opponent was an opportunity to improve the point brought back from Asnières a fortnight ago, the Finistère players started the match in the worst possible way. “We may have had excess confidence following the last match,” the Rennes coach tried to explain. Defaulting in most areas of play (service, reception, attack), the Finisterians conceded the first set with a clear score (12-25).

A reaction too late

The start of the second round was of the same ilk. Opposite, the power of Ben Ali hurt (3-9). Under the leadership of its captain Thibaut Rumen, Saint-Renan finally reacted (15-15). But Sartouville made fewer mistakes in the money-time and pocketed a second set (21-25).

The Renanese confirmed their best intentions from the start of the third round. Malo Bars regained his efficiency and allowed his teammates to make an initial gap (5-0). Despite a large rotation of the squad, Sartrouville did not panic and got back on track (8-8), before definitively taking the advantage (24-26).
