It’s a moment always awaited. Before each match, New Zealand players perform a Haka, a traditional Maori warrior dance. A taste of the fight to come and this Saturday, November 16 at the Stade de France, the All Blacks have chosen Kapa O Pongo. A choice far from trivial since this Haka is considered more warlike than the historic Ka Mate.

Silence at the Stade de France

Regularly, the All Blacks Haka is covered by chants from supporters. But this Saturday evening, the Stade de France observed the spectacle in cathedral silence, further reinforcing the tension caused by this ritual.

If sometimes the opposing team walks towards the New Zealanders during their dance, Fabien Galthié’s men simply looked straight at their opponents. Already in the match, the French immediately gathered in a circle after Kapa O Pongo.
