Since the 2022 World Cup, Qatar's involvement in the PSG project seems to have changed.
After a decade marked by lavish spending to attract the biggest stars of football, the Parisian club is entering a new era under the leadership of Luis Enrique and Luis Campos, now favoring a less flamboyant and more collective project. Last season had already laid the foundations for this transition, but the disappointing results in the Champions League this season raise doubts.
Luis Enrique, with his team-oriented playing philosophy, and Luis Campos, thanks to his network, have the mission of building a united and efficient team, less dependent on great individuals. However, the project is already showing limits: with only 4 points in 4 Champions League matches and an inglorious 25th place in Europe, PSG is no longer scary on the continental scene. Without a real number 9, the team seems to lack bite, and the lack of offensive solutions is worrying.
No emergency?
According to The TeamQatar keeps a more distant eye on PSG, adopting a much less demanding posture than before 2022. Despite more than 550 million euros invested in two years, an early elimination in C1 would not call into question the current plan. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of the club, even displays a speech of continuity and tolerance, accepting this temporary downgrading on the European scene. This strategic choice could nevertheless leave Parisian supporters hungry, those who still dream of European glory.
