The name of the referee who will kick off the Red Devils match this Sunday is known. This is not the first time that he will referee Belgium.
This Sunday, Belgium will face Israel. A victory will be imperative for the Red Devils, firstly to try to redeem themselves after their performance against Italy, but also to qualify for the Nations League play-offs.
The name of the referee for this match is now known: it will be the Austrian Sebastian Gishamer. Alongside him, Roland Riedel and Santino Schreiner will officiate as assistants, Christopher Jäger will be the fourth referee, Manuel Schüttengruber will be in charge of the video assistance, and Walter Altmann will be his assistant.
Gishamer will bring back bad memories to Union Saint-Gilloise supporters. Last October, he officiated during the Unionists’ defeat against Midtjylland in the Europa League. This is not the first time that he will referee a Red Devils match: he had already whistled the friendly match against England before the Euro (2-2) at Wembley.
The Austrian will whistle for the first time in Nations League A. Until now, he had only officiated in League C.
