Happy ! Mathilde Rolland, 30 years old, graduate of Fémis (specialism in cinematographic exploitation) and employee of Macao 7th art, obviously is. The cultural project she is leading, La Nef, has just been chosen to breathe new life into the Sainte-Croix des Pelletiers hall in the city center of Rouen. “We have consolidated the search for public funds from the Region, the Department, the Drac, the CNC and the Feder. Which represents 80% of the budget. The machine starts »she rejoices.
The Nave should see the light of day in 2028. Its budget now amounts to €3.5 million (€2.4 million for heritage restoration work, €1 million for cultural development work and €100,000 for the layout of the café/bar). The project is focused on a new kind of cultural venue, offering a hybrid activity of neighborhood cinema, acoustic concerts and flexible café (with wine tasting).
Screening of old films
The 156 m² of projection and conference rooms are divided into two rooms that can accommodate 120 and 42 spectators. The idea is to present old films that cannot be seen either at L'Omnia or on the platforms. 150 are restored per year,” Mathilde Rolland told us last June.
The Nave also includes 202 m² of modular café space depending on use, with a stage of at least 25 m² and a space that can be transformed into a dressing room of 23 m², 179 m² of offices, shed and backyard for the operation of the place, 36 m² of reception space, and 71 m² of paved terrace in the heart of Rouen!
Two projects to decide
The call for projects concerned the real estate complex made up of an old church deconsecrated shortly after the Revolution and a half-timbered building, acquired by the City of Rouen in 1994. Used as a performance hall, exhibitions, meetings , conferences, with a capacity of 380 people until December 2015, the church has since been decommissioned.
After the abandonment of a first project “Bek'Miettes”, a second call for projects was launched on March 11, 2024. Two operators responded, decided by a jury on November 8.
