It's a “pleasant surprise” which Anaëlle and Maxime Joubert, both breeders on their Fontaine farm in Couddes, did not expect: they won the gold medal for the sheep's tomme during the regional cheese competition in Selles-sur-Cher, on November 6, 2024.
“We always try to do the best we canreacts Maxime, who has been living on his farm for two and a half years. We still have things to put in place to improve our cheese, particularly in terms of maturing. » He explains that he “caught in the game” when he didn't think he would participate in the competition. It was only after being contacted by the organization that he decided to send a sample.
After this award, the question of potential repercussions arises: “I don’t know anything about it”admits the breeder with a smile. Six other cheese producers from Loir-et-Cher won the gold medal in different categories: Nicolas Avrain, Le Croc du merle cheese dairy in Muides-sur-Loire, with “le Cœur de vache”, in the category “Cow various lactics”.
For goat cheeses, Blandine Méchain from the Taquet cheese dairy in Sassay won a gold medal in the “Round beginning of ripening” category; Cindy Montaru, Le Petit Lancéen at Lancéen with Le Lancéen in the “Long start of maturing” category.
