Algeria wants to criminalize any economic ties with Israel

Despite the de facto absence of any diplomatic or commercial relations between Algeria and Israel, around sixty Algerian parliamentarians wish to enshrine in law the ban on “any normalization or any commercial and economic exchange between Algerian companies, public or private, and foreign companies financing Israel”, reports the pan-Arab news site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed. The deputies who formulated the bill want to cast a wide net and block the road to any standardization, even if indirect.

“The law aims to strengthen the official position of the Algerian state, which rejects any economic or commercial exchange, in whatever form and under whatever name, with the Zionist entity,” said Abdessalam Bachagha, one of the deputies behind the bill.

In focus, the contribution to the boycott of the State of Israel, and the closure of “all the ways by which the Zionist entity could infiltrate Algeria”. The project attacks not only Israeli companies, but extends to all companies that support Israel, which could no longer work in Algeria.
