Biathlon: the first victory of the Bessans selections for Gaëtan Paturel
This Thursday morning, the Bessans FFS biathlon selections qualifying for the first two stages of the 2024/2025 IBU Cup opened in Haute Maurienne Vanoise. Under the bright sun and in negative temperatures, it was the men who launched the hostilities during a 10 kilometer sprint.
In a race with twists and turns, it was finally the Montblanais Gaëtan Paturel (9/10) who won the victory. Member of the Haute-Savoie Nordic Teamthe biathlete from SNCP Rochois, last to set off with his bib bearing the number 26, only released one ball while standing and wins with 18 sec 1 ahead of Antonin Guigonnat (7/10), prequalified, and 19 sec 3 over Théo Guiraud-Poillot (8/10).
At the foot of the podium, we find Axel Garnier (9/10) at 23 sec 1 then Ian Martinet (10/10), Valentin Lejeune (8/10), Lionel Jouannaud (8/10, in the lead with the prone shot, Alexis Colomban (10/10), in front after standing, Damien Livet (8/10) et Jacques Jefferies (8/10), last member of the top 10 of the day.
Many disappointed
Among the disappointments, we find the eleventh place of Paul Fontaine (9/10), the thirteenth of Mathieu Garcia (7/10), the fourteenth ofAntonin Guy (9/10), the eighteenth of Martin Botet (6/10), the twentieth of Mathieu Perrillat-Bottonet (5/10), the twenty-first ofAmbroise Meunier (6/10), the twenty-second of Corentin Jacob (6/10), the twenty-third ofEdgar Geny (5/10), the twenty-fourth of Guillaume Poirot (6/10) and the twenty-fifth of Lou Thiévent (7/10).
The latter are now up against the wall in these Bessan selections: they actually used their joker and will have to shine this weekend during the second sprint and the mass start to hope to qualify for the IBU Cup.
