Laurence Cliche recently succeeded Margo Setlakwe Blouin as president of Héritage Centre-Ville. Remember that this non-profit organization is dedicated to the animation and development of downtown Thetford Mines.
The outgoing president said she was very happy to pass the torch to Laurence Cliche. “She has all the abilities and, above all, the motivation to successfully pursue the mission of the organization. This is excellent news for our community,” said Ms. Setlakwe Blouin in a press release.
Héritage Centre-Ville also wanted to pay tribute to the many years of commitment of the latter as president. “His dedication to the mission and his skills have greatly contributed to the development and evolution of the organization. Although she continues her involvement as an administrator, all of the administrators thank her greatly for all these years. »
The new president joined the board of directors in April 2020. In an interview with Courrier Frontenac, she said she was delighted to take on this challenge and explained that the transition went smoothly over the last few months. “Those are big shoes to fill. Margo is very active in the community and runs a large business. We had a good president and now it’s up to me to take the reins. As an administrator, I was well aware of the files, but I learned what the president’s routine was,” indicated the lawyer for the Bernier et Beaudry firm in Thetford Mines.
In recent years, the organization has focused on events and activities in the city center. This mission is set to continue, but it also wishes to broaden its reach and further highlight its merchants, whether they are located west or east of Notre-Dame Street. This is also one of the objectives of the new president. Over the years, the city center has seen many movements on the commercial side. Laurence Cliche is convinced of the appeal it represents and the visibility it can offer.
Collaborative work with the City of Thetford Mines regarding the Special Urban Planning Program (PPU) for the city center will also be at the heart of its priorities. “We recently had meetings along these lines. The goal is to see concretely what Héritage can bring to the PPU. Our mission is to contribute to the dynamism and revitalization of the city center, both commercially and residentially. »
Finally, Laurence Cliche invites people who have ideas or projects for the city center and who would like to collaborate with the organization not to hesitate to contact him. “We have great goals and it may be a classic to say that, but I am motivated by this challenge,” she concluded.
