Controversial personality, Charleroi managing director Mehdi Bayat was interviewed by Sudinfo for the club’s 20th anniversary.
As part of the 120th anniversary of Sporting de Charleroi, Sudinfo spoke with Mehdi Bayatat the head of the club for more than 20 years.
“Never in my head at that time (at its beginnings) did I imagine myself being at the head of the club 20 years later and finally having also left my personal mark,” he began.
He keeps one ambition in mind: to win a first title. “I think that the day Sporting de Charleroi wins a first trophy, it will be an exceptional moment. I obviously hope as quickly as possible, with or without me.”
Bayat then spoke about his possible departure from the club, which he hopes will prosper. “My responsibility is above all to perpetuate, to ensure that the day I leave Sporting de Charleroi, there is a new stadium, a training center worthy of the name…”
“How much longer I will be here myself at the head of the club, I have absolutely no idea. As long as I stay here, I will always try to keep the same passion and fire that I have deep down of me for almost 22 years now,” he concluded.
