• Alain Roura very close to a cruise ship:
Delicate situation for the skipper, getting dangerously close to a cruise ship.
• Boris Hermann “I didn’t sleep much last night”:
“It's intense, hard and it's not easy to find the right rhythm from the start. I didn't sleep much. Yesterday, passing Madeira, I met Sébastien Simon and Yannick Bestaven with whom we spoke. There, we are all South-West even if the future situation is not very clear. In any case, it's a little warmer. I will be able to stay barefoot and in a swimsuit until Ecuador. We should have seven fairly quiet days with sail changes only every two days. It will be nice to get into the race! »
• Charlie Dalin had a complicated night:
“I had a sleepless night. I think I had the whole catalog of bad choices of maneuvers and I got stopped by the front of the island… I was unlucky, I never managed to jibe, it was very frustrating. This start of the race is a bit like Solitaire du Figaro mode with a lot of tactics and placement. »
• Guirec Soudée's sail is in the water:
• Maxime Sorel still in difficulty says:
“Since crossing the starting line, it’s been very complicated for me. We can have plenty of technical problems, but my ankle injury inevitably raises a lot of questions. As soon as I place my foot on a curved surface, the pain is permanent. It's only been swelling since the beginning, despite treatment and anti-inflammatories. In any case, I will have to climb the mast again to lower the mainsail. I wait to arrive in the wind of Madeira, even if there is choppy weather, which doesn't please me. »
