Working in the media field since his retirement from the NHL, former Montreal Canadiens player Guillaume Latendresse announced this Wednesday on social networks that he was putting his professional career on hold for an indefinite period.
Indeed, to take care of his mental health, he declares that he is withdrawing immediately from his role as host of The Blue Pocketanalyst at TVA and with the Bataillon de Saint-Hyacinthe, the North American hockey league that he recently acquired. He explains:
« I am currently going through difficult times mentally. This has been a recurring situation for several years, probably a symptom of my concussions during my career, and I decided to try to resolve my problem this week. I will therefore be taking a break from all my professional activities, the Blue Pocket, TVA and the Battalion – who have all been very understanding and who have offered me the necessary support – in order to take time to heal myself. It’s something that perhaps I should have done for a few years but have always put off. »
He ends his message by emphasizing all the love and respect he feels for his family and his fans, who have followed him since his debut in 2005. He confides:
« I consider myself lucky to be able to count on you and I can’t wait to see you again once I have taken good care of myself and my health. See you soon! – William »

We wish all the kindness and all the time necessary for Guillaume Latendresse so that he can take care of his health and thus return to his professional commitments in great shape. We also salute his courage in making such an announcement in public, helping to break down the barriers and taboos surrounding mental health.
Remember that Guillaume’s son also had some health problems earlier this fall, following a nasty injury. Details here.
