three individuals finally arrested in the murder of the 58-year-old walker

Research continues. Sunday evening, a 58-year-old passerby died after being stabbed in a parking lot in Marcq-en-Baroeul (North), near . According to a police source, a suspect, a “homeless man”, was arrested at the time of the incident. But the Lille public prosecutor's office confirmed this Wednesday that three arrests were finally made.

A fourth suspect sought

Concretely, what happened? According to the first elements of the investigation, “a passer-by was the target of a stabbing in a parking lot, for no reason”, indicated the police source. The latter specified that the attack took place around 6 p.m. and that the victim “was walking her dog”. A municipal source told AFP that the victim had gone to walk a friend's dog on the towpath along the canal.

The sixty-year-old was attacked near a DIY and decoration store and a fast restaurant. A jogger, an emergency doctor, performed the first aid procedures and attempted a cardiac massage, in vain, a municipal source added.

But this Wednesday, three suspects were finally arrested. The defendants were referred to the prosecution on Tuesday evening. Despite this, the individuals “dispute the facts”, indicated the Lille Prosecutor. On the other hand, the investigation is continuing to find out the degree of involvement of each of them. In fact, the three persons concerned were indicted for “intentional homicide while in a state of obvious intoxication”. For the moment, two are provisionally imprisoned, the third is placed under judicial supervision and a fourth person is wanted.
