A film by Antoine Mourret, who describes his daily life and his pride in being independent, despite a significant motor disability.

“In my misfortune, I am very lucky. » Antoine Mourret, 36, has suffered from dystonia* since birth. But his parents raised him like an able-bodied child, he explains. Which, obviously, gave him enough self-confidence to complete a brilliant education up to a bac+5, then find a job. Since 2014, he has worked in the departmental archives.

It is this journey, and the daily life of his home life, that tells Next time… it’s an omelette! his six-minute film which has just received the grand jury prize at the 16e edition of Regards Croissants. A festival of short films intended to promote the skills of people with disabilities in the world of work and to change the outlook of businesses. The jury, notably composed of cinema professionals, awards prizes each year in different categories: ordinary environment, adapted environment, corporate communication, and another perspective, in which Antoine Mourret competed.

Confidences and kindness

Another look, then. And another way of expressing himself too, since Antoine Mourret’s speech difficulties force him to slow down the flow of his expression. Which contrasts with the music chosen for the film, very rhythmic on the contrary. Which can sometimes create a certain discomfort in the viewer. We would have preferred his voice alone.

Especially since Antoine Mourret delivers secrets. This is how he recounts his single life, the difficulty of finding love in his situation. But also the kindness of his family. Next time… it’s an omelette! weaves, in short, the most ordinary threads of life, with its irreducible, since individual, singularities. To better blur the lines?
