A fire broke out in the space dedicated to welcoming children “Fleur de Coton”, located rue de la Vallée-Doudemont, in Malesherbois, near Pithiviers, around 2 p.m., Tuesday November 12
The staff and children welcomed were able to be evacuated, i.e. nineteen adults and twenty-three children, say the firefighters.
At 3 p.m., they were still in the parking lot of the establishment waiting to be evacuated to the Château-Vignon premises. The few young children still there are wrapped in survival blankets.
Some parents were able to pick up their child directly. “I came as soon as I found out, I didn’t even have time to tie my shoelaces!” says a dad as he leaves, his child in his arms.
“Everyone was able to be evacuated, no one is at risk,” said Hervé Gaurat, the mayor of Malesherbois, on site.
