Android 15 and One Ui 7 on Samsung smartphones: what it changes

If Android 15 is already available on Google smartphones like the Pixel 9, this is not yet the case for Samsung smartphones. The update is expected to arrive in January 2025 to accompany the release of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, S25+ and S25. Android 15 will then be accompanied by One Ui 7, the latest version of Samsung’s in-house interface.

This, in addition to the new features of Android 15, will bring multiple changes, starting with a visual overhaul with reworked iconsrounded notification bubbles, etc. But above all, the drop-down menu giving access to the control panels and notifications would now be divided in two, as we can see on many smartphones, such as those from Xiaomi.

Samsung hopes to make its interface more intuitive, but also more efficient. thanks to several adjustments. We will even gain in fluidity when opening and closing applications. Galaxy AI is also expected to be expanded with new artificial intelligence features.

The first phases of testing, which should have started in August, will now be launched, but only in a few countries; South Korea, United States and Germany.

Samsung Galaxy smartphones that should benefit from the One Ui 7 (Android 15) update

Samsung has not yet revealed an official list of smartphones that will be able to access One Ui 7 and thus Android 15. However, we can easily deduce it thanks to the update duration they benefit from.

This has also been widely heard. Just like Google, for its Pixel 8 and 9, Samsung has gone from an average of 4 years of software updates to 7 years for its Galaxy S24s. The same then happened for its foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. Even more surprising, the Korean brand significantly extended the lifespan of its entry-level smartphones with 6 years for the Samsung Galaxy A16. A first for a smartphone worth around €200.

In this way, in addition to the smartphones released this year such as the Galaxy A06, A16, A25, A35, A55, S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6; a significant number of Samsung smartphones should upgrade to One Ui 7 and therefore Android 15:

• The Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold 5, 4 and 3
• Les Galaxy S23, S22 et S21
• The Galaxy A54 and A53
• The Galaxy A34, A33, A24, A14 and A05

Previous models should no longer be updated, including popular models like the Galaxy A13, Galaxy A52 or the Galaxy S20 including the Galaxy S20 FE.
