Masked rioters threw fireworks at a tram in western Amsterdam on Monday evening, sparking a fire amid shouts of “ Jews are a cancer », reports the Times of Israël.

These incidents occur a few hours after a meeting of the Dutch cabinet, devoted to the attacks suffered by Maccabi Tel-Aviv supporters on November 7 in the streets of Amsterdam. Prime Minister Mark Rutte called these acts “ pure and simple anti-Semitism “, believing to have ” failed ». « I’m ashamed », admitted the head of government.

Earlier in the day, police announced the arrest of five additional suspects, including two minors aged sixteen and seventeen, in connection with the attacks on Israeli fans after the match against Ajax on Thursday November 7.

On Sunday, November 10, in the afternoon, Amsterdam police also dispersed a pro-Palestinian demonstration on Dam Square, where around 200 activists had gathered illegally. The mayor of Amsterdam had in fact banned all demonstrations in the city and declared several risk zones where the police can arrest and control anyone. More than sixty suspects have been arrested in recent days in the Dutch capital.
