In the commune of Petit-Caux (Seine-Maritime), the children's municipal council is not something taken lightly and elected officials are always careful to highlight these young citizens.

Tuesday, November 5, 2024, an installation ceremony was organized, in the René-Cassin room, opposite the town hall in Saint-Martin-en-Campagne. It was in front of the elected officials that the young municipal councilors received their tricolor scarves, while the outgoing ones received a trophy and a diploma.

An important election

During this installation, nine positions were in power and they were 23 candidates. Suffice it to say that this election is important in the eyes of children.

Moreover, before leaving their posts, Annabelle Jacob, deputy mayor, in charge of the municipal children's council, specifies: “Your last mission is to pass on the tricolor scarf which is a symbol and which identifies you as an elected official. »

Missions like elected adults

Among the missions carried out by the young elected officials before this new installation: the operation kibble mission, a visit to the National Assembly, the installation of water fountains and the creation of the pump track. The new elected officials are full of projects that they will have to refine and submit for validation by their adult peers: environmental actions, animal protection, intergenerational project, humanitarian collection, and finally, protection and respect of playgrounds and sports equipment.

But before that, they will complete the projects started by their predecessors: flowering of playgrounds and development of bicycle garages.

The new municipal youth council will put all its heart into its new mission, to the great pride of parents, but also of elected officials.
