A violent fire broke out this Monday, November 11 at the Christmas village of Barcarès (Pyrénées-Orientales). An investigation has been opened.
On the night of Sunday November 10 to Monday November 11, the Barcarès Christmas market, located in the Pyrénées-Orientales, was engulfed in flames after a fire broke out.
According to the authorities, significant resources were deployed on site to put out the fire. As for the damage, seven wooden chalets, as well as several maritime containers used for storage, were destroyed, reports France 3 Occitanie.
The events occurred around 4:30 a.m.
The origin of the incident remains unknown at this time and an investigation has been opened by the gendarmerie services.
The opening of the Barcarès Christmas village, which was to take place on November 16, is uncertain.
