Christine Sinclair has officially hung up her crampons. The Canadian Soccer legend played in the final match of his career in a Portland Thorns loss to Gotham FC in the 1st round of the NWSL playoffs.
Sinclair spent 64 minutes on the pitch, taking one shot, before giving way to Reilyn Turner.
Turner was the lone scorer for the Thorns, while Tierna Davidson and Rose Lavelle scored in Gotham’s win. Lavelle scored the winning goal in stoppage time to inflict a heartbreaking setback on Sinclair and his gang.
Sinclair has played with Portland since the 2013 season. She has won the NWSL title three times, including her last in 2022. She has scored 65 goals in this uniform, which places her 3rd in league history.
Sinclair retired from the Canadian national team in December 2023. She ranks first in history, men and women combined, with 190 goals on the international stage.
She has won three Olympic medals, including gold at the 2021 Games in Tokyo.
