French President Emmanuel Macron will attend the football match between France and Israel under high security on Thursday, the Élysée announcedAFP this Sunday, November 10, confirming information from RTL.
A “high risk” match
According to the entourage of the President of the Republic, these include “to send a message of fraternity and solidarity after the intolerable anti-Semitic acts which followed the match in Amsterdam this week”.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, violence in Amsterdam between groups of individuals and supporters of Maccabi Tel-Aviv sparked international condemnation.
A total of 4,000 police and gendarmes will be mobilized on Thursday for the match at “high risk” France-Israel at the Stade de France, in Saint-Denis, Paris police chief Laurent Nuñez announced on Sunday.
For its part, Israel recommends that its citizens not go to the match.
