Ukraine launches drone salvo on Moscow – 10/11/2024 at 09:34

Ukraine launched a salvo of drones on Moscow on Sunday on a scale not seen since the start of the Russo-Ukrainian war in February 2022, which left at least one injured without causing major damage.

Air defense destroyed 32 drones heading towards the Russian capital, the city's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, said.

Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Zhukovo airports had to temporarily suspend operations.

The drones notably flew over the Ramenskoye district, 45 km southeast of the center of Moscow, which had already been targeted last September. Russian forces then shot down 20 drones.

Other regions of Russia, including Kaluga, Bryansk and Orlov, have also been targeted by drone attacks, authorities said.

In Ukraine, the air force said it destroyed 62 Russian drones out of a total of 145 fired overnight – a record number. It lost track of 67 other machines, undoubtedly due to electronic jamming, while 10 other drones headed towards Russia, Moldova and Belarus.

At least two people were injured in Odessa, southern Ukraine, according to local authorities.
