The 2024 Vendée Globe kicks off this Sunday, November 10 at 1:02 p.m., with 40 skippers entered, a record. To experience this exceptional event, 3 offers you live coverage from the pontoons to the starting line. From 5 a.m. this morning, a large crowd gathered along the channel, where the skippers began their passage since 8 a.m. The first boats have already left the pontoons.

This Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 1:02 p.m., marks the long-awaited start of the tenth edition of the Vendée Globe.

Forty skippers are embarking on the adventure of the greatest ocean race: a solo sailing trip around the world, without stopovers or assistance. Among them, regulars, like Jean Le Cam (6th participation) or Yannick Bestaven, winner in 2020. But also newbies, called rookies. There are 6 of them, including the youngest member of the edition, Violette Dorange (23 years old).

But before that, they leave the pontoons and descend the legendary Sables-d'Olonne channel, cheered by hundreds of thousands of spectators. Some traveled from remote areas, sometimes at dawn, to share this unique experience.
