The president of the Valencia region, Carlos Mazon, was the target of numerous banners as the anger of the Spanish victims continues to rise two weeks after the deadly floods which left more than 200 dead.

In the streets, demonstrators accused the government: “Most of the problems we have today are because of the incompetence of politicians. The central government did not help us, they did not respond to our demands, it is the population who pays because of rivalries between politicians,” said an angry resident, quoted by BFMTV.

An increasingly significant health risk

Several thousand people were in the streets this afternoon. According to a latest report, 219 people died in the Valencia region. 89 people are still missing.

To make the situation worse, the cleaning work is still not finished. Nauseous smells of rotten eggs and meat flood the cities. In some communities, the mud is still not removed, which continues to exasperate residents. The government has published a timetable of their actions to calm tensions.
