: The Côte-d'Or district is worried about the future of the DFCO Féminin

Jérôme Thibert our that “the future is uncertain for the DFCO women’s team” as well as for the club’s employees. According to the district president, the possible shutdown of this team would represent “a shock for in Côte-d’Or”.

Press release from the Côte-d’Or football district of November 7, 2024:

The Côte-d'Or Football District expresses its deep concern and emotion regarding recent information concerning the uncertain future of DFCO employees as well as the DFCO women's team currently 4th in D1 Arkema. A stoppage of this team would represent a real cataclysm for departmental women's football and would leave a considerable void in the sporting landscape of our region.

The women's DFCO has long been a leading figure in the development of women's football in Côte-d'Or. Its existence not only inspires young players, who dream of reaching the highest level, but it also constitutes a vector of commitment and passion for hundreds of volunteers, who work tirelessly to offer girls and young women the opportunity to live their passion. The women's DFCO plays a driving role, motivating local clubs to become more committed to the promotion and structuring of women's football.

With 100 affiliated clubs and 16,400 licensees, the Côte-d'Or Football District works daily to develop the practice of women's football throughout the territory. The cessation of the DFCO women's team, a symbol of success and ambition, would be a hard blow for the entire sector and would jeopardize numerous efforts undertaken to encourage the feminization of this sport.

The District is well aware of the financial difficulties of clubs and communities, however in professional and amateur clubs there are so many employees and volunteers who work for all ages.

We are calling for a general mobilization of football players, public and private partners, and all sports lovers to preserve this emblem of women's football in Côte-d'Or.

Together, we hope to be able to find a lasting solution to keep this team in business and continue to inspire future generations.
