Closed since Friday April 12 following a fire which broke out in the building the day before, the restaurant Chez Dorina reopened its doors on September 1.

On April 11, a fire ravaged the second floor of the building on rue Gambetta. The causes of the fire still remain unknown, despite suspicion of an electrical origin for the start of the fire. “This evening, we had a lot of resources committed which made it possible to preserve all the surrounding businesses and homes. Some were affected by the extinguishing water, but not by the fire itself,” declares the Castelnaudary rescue center.

The manager of the restaurant “Chez Dorina”, which opened in 2014 on the ground floor of the building, was forced to close her establishment. Alerted by a post on Facebook on Friday April 12 at 5:45 a.m., Dorina learned this sad news. “When I woke up, I saw this photo of the building on fire, I was devastated. I asked myself several questions. My husband and I rushed to the restaurant, and we discovered the damage” , explains Dorina, still moved before adding: “I lost a lot of things: operating losses, stock, real estate and even household appliances”.

“We had to redo everything”

After eight months of closure, the restaurant reopened its doors on September 1st. “I couldn't close any longer. I need to work. We had to redo everything: the paintings, the kitchen, the ceiling, the household appliances… I couldn't welcome my customers in such conditions”, specifies the restaurant manager. Dorina is gradually resuming her passion and, to her greatest pleasure, is reunited with her loyal customers.
