His outstanding performances in the Premier League, combined with a brilliant performance at Euro 2024 in Germany , where he was named best player of the tournament, allowed him to be recognized as the best footballer in the world. He received 1,170 votes, 41 more than Vinicius, who received 1,129 votes, according to data from L’Équipe.
“2024 Ballon d’Or voting details: only 41 points separate Rodri from Vinicius Jr.,” was shared on social media. Jude Bellingham finished in third place, while Dani Carvajal and Erling Haaland rounded out the top five. The results of the vote were published on Friday November 8 by the French daily. The ten players selected by the journalists received points as follows: 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1, respectively.

These aspects take into account a player’s central role within his team, his record in terms of trophies, and his attitude towards fair play.
Once these criteria have been established, the 100 journalists who make up the specialized jury, one per country appearing among the first 100 in the FIFA rankings before the vote, select their 10 best players (from best to worst) from a shortlist of 30 candidates. This preliminary list is compiled by another specialized jury composed of members of France Football, L’Équipe, the jury from the previous edition and UEFA ambassadors, with Luis Figo acting as representative for the Ballon d’ Men’s gold.
