Where are the Wear OS updates for Samsung smartwatches? The question deserves to be asked, as the manufacturer’s promises are not kept in this area. And this is starting to worry users.
Officially, recent connected watches from Samsung (from Galaxy Watch4) should receive security updates every quarter, as Samsung officially promises. However, as the site notes GalaxyClubwe are far from it: the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch7, available since this summer, work with security patches dating back to June.

Samsung and Google are in the same boat
On older models, like the Watch4, 5 and 6, the last security update was in March. It is understood that the security issue on connected watches is less important than for smartphones which sometimes require urgent fixes. But still, a little follow-up wouldn’t hurt!
And that’s not the only problem Samsung encounters with its watches. Updates for Wear OSalso have difficulty arriving safely. In May, the manufacturer announced that One UI 6 Watch, the overlay based on Wear OS 5, would be delivered to all Galaxy Watches running the OS. Only the Galaxy Watch7 and Ultra have been served at the moment; the deployment for Watch6 and Watch6 Classic began in October, but the operation is clearly taking a long time because not all users have been served.
Samsung isn’t the only manufacturer struggling with software updates for smartwatches, however. This is also the case for Google: the update to Wear OS 5 for the 1st and 2nd generation Pixel Watch caused serious bugs among users after its deployment in September. The search engine has suspended delivery of this new version, promising to put it back online before the end of the year. No news at the moment.
