Almost a month without an Internet connection. This is what the residents of the Yves-du-Manoir district, in Poissy (Yvelines) experienced, reports 78 Actu . On September 23, 2024, a fire broke out in the optical fiber arrival room, managed by Orange, damaging the infrastructure.
The residents of seven residences connected to this premises did not have a connection, some until October 15, others until the beginning of November. The residents concerned found this time particularly long, with some estimating this delay « inadmissible ». Everything was done according to the rules, Orange told the local media.
A temporary installation
“The Orange subdistributor was damaged. Fiber lines, but also copper lines (telephone line and ADSL) were affected, which takes longer to replace,” the operator justified himself. On October 15, 2024, twenty-three days after the fire, the operator was able to carry out a new installation in premises made available by the lessor.
“Everyone will have their Internet connection back. But it is possible that some people will have a loss of power with the temporary installation”admits Orange.
